#9 del.icio.us Complete

Well, this seems a very useful tool. I can see enormous potential as exemplified by other libraries mentioned in the lesson. For myself, given that I only have so many years left to live, the best advantage is being able to access my bookmarks from any computer.

#8 Second Life - done

So. . .a librarian in the Netherlands using a Second Life moniker posts a medical reference guide , with the capability of receiving and answering questions. I'm a little bit confused about "authority" here. Why would I rely on the information if I didn't know where it was "really" coming from outside of the context of SL. Naivete, perhaps, on my part. The rest of the fun stuff looks exactly that, fun.

#7 - MySpace - complete

Now I can hardly wait until I can cancel this membership. The whole thing gives me the creeps, sending personal information, even if it's only your "sign" out there into the ether makes me feel way too vulnerable. Oh wait, I have a new friend, "Tom." Does he like me or is everyone Tom's friend.

#6 Social networking - I did it.

The Brits are into Facebook. . . good stable global linking capabilities. . but what's with Germany. . .Studiverzei? Doesn't sound like sharing to me.

RSS #5b

Fascinating. I couldn't seem to find the RSS symbol on a number of the sites I searched, which is odd as many of them were regional newspapers. I probably just missed it. I didn't do the "share" part of the exercise. . .as my kindergarten teacher Mrs Zeiglass said, I need to work on that.

RSS #5

Way too addictive. You start off subscribing to book and movie reviews thinking you are maintaining some degree of intellectual integrity and the next thing you know you're subscribing to "yarn harlot." Where will this end. . ."lovers of obese dogs unite?"
